A Cabarrus County jury that convicted a woman of killing her two children in 2006 by setting their house on fire now must decide her punishment.
The jury convicted 42-year-old Lisa Greene of first-degree murder and first-degree arson yesterday. A sentencing phase of the trial is scheduled to start tomorrow in Concord and the jury can recommend a death sentence or a sentence of life in prison.
Greene's attorneys argued the fire started by accident because of a candle, but prosecutors said she wanted to get rid of the children and planned the fire.
