Doc Watson is guilty. That's the decision reached by the jury in his rape retrial case. The jury took only a few hours Monday before handing over its decision. The jurors started deliberating around 1:15 at the Beaufort County courthouse in Washington this afternoon and were ready to render a verdict by four p.m. This is the second trial for Doc Watson on charges he raped a woman who worked for Beaufort County schools in July of 2003. The first case ended in a mistrial. Watson was also sentenced Monday to at least 27 years behind bars. The victim's family would not go on camera but did issue this statement. "We know sometimes the judicial system works slow, but justice had been done. The family will be glad to put this chapter in our life behind us and move forward."
