Drive-by Claims Student's Life

A Perquimans County High School student was shot and killed in front of his home in an apparent random drive-by shooting. Officials say Shakim Warren died Thursday night of at least one gunshot wound. Warren's older brother, Conan Warren, said Friday that neighbors told him his brother's shooting was the result of an ongoing dispute between rival groups in Edenton and Hertford. He said his family wasn't involved in the three-year-old feud. A funeral will be held at the high school, although a date hasn't been set.
