Wind Creates Problems on OBX

Video will be available shortly.

Wickedly windy weather creates a monumental battle on the Outer Banks.

A battle between Mother Nature and man. Department of Transportation crews are working to keep Highway 12 clear and passable, as gale force winds hammer Hatteras Island in Dare County. At high tide, a little after 2 p.m., crews were going at it with heavy equipment, tackling wave after wave of the high velocity sand. Motorists experienced mild delays in the Pea Island Wildlife Refuge, just south of Oregon Inlet, where overwash is an ever-present threat to traffic. Other wind sensitive hot spots on the Outer Banks saw similar problems.
