University Health Systems of Eastern Carolina (UHS) now can help you answer questions by posting information on its website that shows how hospitals in the system are measuring up to national quality standards.
"We are committed to helping the people of eastern North Carolina get the health care they need and deserve," said Dave McRae. "They have a right to know how well we perform our duties as a leading provider of quality health care. And we owe it to them to make this information easy to find, easy to understand and meaningful".
The standards were selected by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) in partnership with the Joint Commission, the body that accredits hospitals, and other public/private organizations that formed the Hospital Quality Alliance (HQA).
Participating hospitals check records of discharged patients to determine how well they have complied with the standards
Consumers who visit www.quality.uhseast.com will find quality information about hospitals in the UHS family presented as bar graphs.
