A lottery in North Carolina is one step closer to becoming a reality after the state house passed a lottery bill Wednesday. Now convenience store operators are keeping an eye on the lottery legislation. If state senators pass a lottery, stores across the state are expected to see revenue that will benefit their business, besides what will go to the schools. If the senate approves a lottery bill it would then head to Governor Mike Easley who would have 10 days to sign it or veto it, or it would automatically become law.
