Emotions were running high in Eastern Carolina over a group of fallen heroes. More than a dozen Camp Lejeune Marines, killed in the war in Iraq since it began, were remembered Thursday.

The fallen heroes were members of the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit, who deployed for Iraq in June of 2004. The memorial honored each individual marine by standing the fallen Marine's rifle with a bayonet, helmet, dog tags, and boots before their grieving families.

In all, 15 Marines were remembered Thursday.
