It's called a "Topping Out" ceremony and Thursday, one was held at the location of the new School of Nursing and Allied Health Sciences building being built for ECU.
"Topping Out" is when the last beam, one painted purple, is placed into the infrastructure of the building. A health library is also being built on the grounds. The completion date is March of next year.
The building has 300,000 square feet and four floors and will cost $58 million.
