Many Homeowners Don't Qualify for Help

Most Pamlico County residents hit hard by Hurricane Isabel in 2003 won't be getting help from the Federal Emergency Management Agency or F.E.M.A.

According to county officials the county has been approved to receive about $1,200,000 from F.E.M.A but that money will only go toward the purchase of seven properties totally flooded out by the storm that are considered unusable.

The rest of the money will go towards raising only 13 homes in the county that officials say fit federal guidelines. The county says 173 residents applied for federal assistance after Hurricane Isabel.
