Easter observances were underway across the east Sunday.
In the Beaufort County town of Chocowinity parishioners at the First Baptist Church of Christ gathered for an Easter sunrise service. The church's central proclamation of faith is based on the resurrection of their Christ Jesus, who is said to have defeated death. Just at dawn Christians begin their prayer service.
Three days after being crucified the Bible story says Jesus Christ came back to life.
