Congressman Asks Mexican President For Help In Catching Laurean

A North Carolina congressman today urged the Mexican president to help with the search for Corporal Cesar Laurean.

In his letter, Congressman Walter Jones urges President Felipe Calderon to use whatever resources are available in Mexico to help find Laurean as quickly as possible. Jones also asks that if Laurean is caught in Mexico that authorities return him to Onslow County to face charges.

The Marine corporal is wanted for killing Lance Corporal Maria Lauterbach and burying her body in his backyard.

Laurean, who was born in Mexico, is a naturalized U.S. citizen. The FBI now believes Laurean has fled to his native country where he still has family.

Jones represents the third congressional district, which includes Onslow County and Camp Lejeune.

Closing the gate after the mule has run off does very little good. Why was not the north and south border informed to look out for this person. Mexican citizens understand that once they are inside Mexico they will not be returned if they face death for a crime.

Jones is grandstanding again! Let the justice system deal with this matter and keep the politicians out of it.

Maybe if we, the citizens of Onslow County, and the USA, wrote to Mexican President Calderon, and personally asked him to locate and return Laurean to the US, it would be more clearly understood that we will not accept such vile acts. What do you say people?
