Saving lives is the call of first responders across the east, but taking on that role often puts emergency workers themselves at risk.
Firefighters from across the state rallied with Pitt County squads Saturday. The training was not just for saving others but for saving each other. Real-life scenarios like trapped, injured, and lost crew members was a task each firefighter went through as a part of a rapid intervention team training session seen here in Greenville. These weekend long certification classes update firefighters on the latest in hazmat operations, ventilation and liquid petroleum gas training along with other related certifications for the 2005 Pitt County Fire College event. First responders here say the training is a must for crew members to stay alive!
Firefighters also receive points they can apply towards the National Fire Academy Curriculum.
