The very best in the world of sport target shooting were letting off rounds in Beaufort County Saturday.
Armed with ammunition and weapons, dozens of shooters gathered at the Hunter's Point Clay Shoot to compete in the 9th Annual East Coast Sporting Clays Championship. Gunmen from as far as England, and Alaska, to right here in Beaufort county, drew their firearms of choice aimed at a competition purse of 1200 dollars. But it's not just the prospect of cash bringing nearly 300 of theses sports men and women to the east.
The 200 bird event ran from 8:30 until about 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday. The weekend long shooting is open for public viewing
Sunday as well at the Hunter's Point Facility off Highway 17 north in Beaufort County during the same hours.
