Woman Stabbed Inside Coffee Shop in Hospital

An early morning trip to the coffee shop at Pitt County Memorial Hospital turned violent. Officials say 38-year-old Leroy Barnes walked into the coffee shop, took a victim and stabbed her around 1:50 Friday morning. Hospital police apprehended him shortly afterwards. Pitt County Memorial Hospital officials would not comment on the case or identify the victim. But WITN 7 found out the victim is Paula Johnson, an employee of the coffee shop according to her son, Lacarseo Johnson. Her son tells us she was stabbed 4 times in the back, puncturing her lungs. Johnson's status is unknown at this time. Barnes has been charged with attempted first degree murder, first degree kidnapping, and communicating threats.
