Pitt County authorities say a nine-year-old boy was killed last weekend when he took the family vehicle for a drive, had a minor accident and the airbag deployed. Lawmen say the boy and his seven-year-old brother, without their parent’s knowledge, took the vehicle through Spain’s Mobile Home Park where the family lives. The State Highway Patrol says the nine-year-old was probably sitting on the edge of the driver’s seat to reach the pedals and was not wearing a seat belt. His brother was buckled into the front passenger seat and was not injured.
