Beach Project Nears Completion

There's one mile to go, and just a few more weeks wrap up a big moving job at the beach. That job is moving sand to Emerald Isle's oceanfront as a huge dredge cuts a new channel in Bogue Inlet at the town's western end.

The project has already put thousands of cubic yards of sand down much of the beach, with just five-thousand feet or so to go. But contractors only have until April 1 to finish that multi-million dollar job, and don't need any more heavy weather like last week's storms to slow them down.
