The history of one coastal county has its very own "place" in the hearts of residents in the heart of Morehead City. This is "The History Place," the Carteret County Historical Society's home for all things historic. Artifacts, records and stories that tell the tale of life and growth of an important part of coastal Eastern Carolina are preserved. The society worked for more than 30 years to finally build a state of the art museum and library to house pieces of their past. And, most of the items inside The History Place are actually donated or loaned by people from the county to share their families' place in a storied past.
