Demolished By Fire One Year Ago, A Pitt County Church Gets Set To Re-open

Exactly one year to the day since arsonist, Seth Parker Price, set it on fire on January 13th 2007, the Memorial Baptist Church Sanctuary will re-open.

Tuesday afternoon, we stopped by the sanctuary for a sneak peak and found some last minute touches being added. Workers were installing audio equipment and breaking out some new bibles, all in preparation of the sanctuary's first service since the arson. Even though, contractors worked day and night on the church, Pastor Randy McKinney says, even he was surprised by the quick and remarkable restoration.

Workers say about 99 percent of everything in the sanctuary had to be replaced. They were able to salvage only portions of the wood around the pulpit. Service inside the Memorial Baptist Church Sanctuary will be held this Sunday at 10:55 AM.
