Updated: Kidnapped Toddler Found, Father Arrested

A two year old Pitt County child abducted by her father is safe at home tonight.

Tonight, Winterville Police arrested 23 year old Brian Conner for kidnapping his daughter from the babysitter's house.

Investigators say the baby's mother spotted Conner's car at his mother's home in Ayden and she called police.

Conner is in the Pitt County Detention Center under a $115,000 bond for child abduction, felony breaking and entering and resisting arrest.

Conner told police he took the child because of a custody dispute.

Original Story

Pitt County authorities are looking for a father who they say kidnapped his 20-month old daughter this evening.

Winterville police say Brian Conner went to the home of the toddler's babysitter, forced his way in and ran out the door with the girl.

Raven Briana Conner was last wearing a pink "moma's little girl" long sleeve shirt, blue jeans and tennis shoes. She is about 2-1/2 feet tall and weighs about 25 pounds.

Police say Conner does not have custody of the child.

He was last seen driving a 2006 seafoam-colored Chrysler 300 with dark tinted windows. The car has North Carolina tags WPL-4868.

WITN is attempting to get a picture of the kidnapped girl.

If anyone has seen Conner or the toddler, please call Winterville police.

it seems to be if the father was really "abducting" his child he wouldn't have ran to his mom's house where people would look for him at. I have been in the mothers shoes and I feel for both parents but soemthing just doesnt seem right.

I am a friend of Brian and I feel that this whole situation is so stupid!! To me Brian is wrong, and then again he isn't wrong. I agree with one of the other comments that someone posted saying that he should have went through the court system first before doing this. This much is true. But then again, if it was me or anyone else in his shoes, I'm pretty sure I or whoever would have done the same thing he did. I'm also pretty sure that this whole scenerio goes deeper than we all know. I just would like to say to the Connor family that I am feeling the same way you are about Brian and that he is in my prayers. And to Brian, keep praying, say positive and keep your head up.

If he felt he was being setup, he should've went the legal way to get his daughter. If they charge his with kidnapping, then he did not have guardianship or custody of his daughter. When I was young me and my sister was abducted my our father and took us to washington DC. The courts told my mother she couldn't take us out of DC because he is the father and my parents were married. He need to fill his paper work so these charges can be dropped

I thank everyone for their comments and prayers. Please look at the facts before judging my nephew. He never had a record and never committed a crime. He was set up by the wife and babysitter. She said she would not rest until she destroys him. I pray for justice for him. Murders had less bond than what he has 115,000 bond.

i don't condone what this man did as I'm sure he had his reasons but at least he actually wants to be a part of his childs life. There are SOOOOO many other pitt county men that fall short of that.I hope they both find peace and harmony in raising this child

My nephew is falsely accuse. He was given permission by the wife to pick up the Baby from daycare and then the daycare lady gave the ok to get her, they are not together anymore, he left her in June, she then called the police and had him arrested for aduction. The news people should be careful how they report stuff without the facts. Judy Cannon of Ayden,NC you will reep what you sow. And he was underage(17 years old)when you trick him into marrying you.
