How Can You Tell The Difference?

A meningitis case involving a college student from UNC Chapel-Hill has many wondering, just how do you know the difference between that and the flu? And who's most at risk? Health officials caution the symptoms are very similar to the flu, but also include a stiff neck and a rash. Meningitis itself attacks in two strands. One is viral, the other bacterial. Both strike about 2,500 Americans a year. More than 100 cases are seen on college campuses a year. That's why health officials urge folks to get vaccinated. Meningitis can be treated with antibiotics.
