Roofs Off, Lines Down in Beaufort County

Strong winds blew through Washington early Tuesday morning leaving some destruction behind. The winds tore off the aluminum roof of the Auto Express Quick Lube located on John Small Avenue. The roof ended up across the street damaging several cars in the Pamlico Orthopedic Associates' parking lot. No one was hurt during the storm, and work crews were on the scene removing the debris. Residents of Charlotte Street in Washington got quite a scare during the storm when falling tree limbs brought a power line down in their yard. The intersection of East Seventh and Charlotte Streets had to be closed as Washington Utilities crews cleared debris and replaced the downed line. Residents say everyone was fine and crews got on the scene quickly, as soon as the storm was over.
