New Child Safety Seat Law Goes Into Effect in New Year

Starting Saturday, new requirements go into effect for children in safety seats.

Children who are eight years old or younger and weigh less than 80 pounds must ride in child restraint seats.

The old requirements affected children under five who weighed less than 40 pounds. It's one of many new laws that hit the books with the ringing in of the New Year.
