Department of Transportation workers are replacing a bridge in Beaufort County that will close for 15 weeks starting Monday.
State Road 1001, also called Cherry Run Road, will shut down--causing a 6-1/2 mile detour for Beaufort County drivers. The road will not reopen until May 24th. If you are traveling south, Horse Pen Swamp Road will take you to VOA Road back to Cherry Run Road. Drivers going north will have to use those same roads as well.
