You think your commute to work is long. Some drivers in Beaufort County will have to navigate a nine mile detour for the next 10 days!
Department of Transportation workers have closed down Horse Pen Swamp Road for emergency bridge repairs.
The detour route will take drivers from Sheppard Mill Road to Bear Grass Road onto Cherry Run Road through Bay Drive.
The bridge is scheduled to reopen March 7.
