How Good Were the Holidays to Local Retailers?

Stores typically depend on the holiday shopping season to generate a majority of their profits for the year.

With 2004 quickly drawing to a close, store managers across the East are tallying up sales numbers. How did they fare?

Excellent, according to Randy Shultz who manages J.C. Penny in Greenville. As for why he thinks it's a record breaking year, Shultz says good merchandising, great sales and a stable local economy are all factors.

Shultz has been in retail 35 years and says this is the best year for sales he can recall.
