Another Scam, Another Warning

Authorities in one Eastern Carolina county are trying to figure out whose attempting to pass counterfeit $100 bills and they may be targeting the elderly. Washington County authorities say the *funny money* started to surface in local businesses around Thanksgiving. But last week, two elderly residents were visited by men who told them they worked for the government and qualified for help on their heat bill. They then put a $100 bill on the table and asked the woman to change it and he would take part of that money and pay her application fee. The Washington County Sheriff's department and the Plymouth Police department are working together on this case, but say they still don't have any strong leads.
