A Newport man is accused in a rash of vehicle break-ins that happened in Havelock and Carteret County.
Adam Tobin was originally a suspect in a hit & run investigation. When they searched the front of his vehicle Friday, police say they found a stolen credit card. Police said that prompted officers to look further into Tobin.
After a search warrant for the car's truck and Tobin's hotel room, they found items that had been taken from six vehicle break-ins in Havelock and another three in Carteret County. Police say they also found a pound and a half of marijuana from Tobin's hotel room
He's facing charges of felony larceny of a firearm, felony possession with intent to sell or deliver marijuana, two counts of felony larceny, two counts of felony possession of stolen property, 8 counts of misdemeanor larceny and 7 counts of misdemeanor possession of stolen property.
Tobin is in the Craven County jail on an $86,500 bond.
