The 2004 Eastern Carolina fishing season was a disaster for many working in the industry. Some people already say this year is going to be just as bad. They're worried that Asian seafood imports will once again set lower market prices. Although consumers will benefit from the lower prices, those in the industry will only see their paychecks dwindle even more. Some boat owners say their problem is two fold. Rising fuel prices limit the amount of fishing trips and they're running out of places to sell their catch. One fisherman tells WITN-7 more than half of the seafood products sold here in Eastern Carolina are Asian imports.
