You could call it an extreme Marine makeover.
Tuesday hundreds of volunteers showed up at the home of Tom and Mary Hentze in Jacksonville, armed with hammers, nails and drills.
The Marines are part of Operation Thunder and are helping the family. Tom, a retired Marine is battling brain cancer, and is unable to do much around his home. The volunteers spent the day, hanging dry wall, installing sinks, repairing the deck, among several repairs. Tom and his wife Mary say this is the ultimate Christmas gift.
The renovations are expected to be complete by late Wednesday.
