Greenville Police investigated a reported Assault Inflicting Serious Injury resulting from an apparent road rage incident.

The investigation revealed that the victim, a 15-year old juvenile, was riding as a passenger in the front seat of the car with his father proceeding eastbound on 14th street from Brownlea Drive toward Greenville Blvd.

The father reported that a truck behind them was swerving in the road and tailgating them and the driver was blowing his vehicle horn. While stopped in traffic at the intersection of 14th & Greenville Blvd, a passenger in the truck got out and approached the victim's car.

Police believe the suspect told the victim to roll down his window, and when the victim did, the suspect punched the juvenile victim in the head, breaking his glasses and causing cuts and bruises to his face. The suspect then returned to the truck, and the truck driver followed the victim and his father back to their home before driving away.

The victim's father was able to get the truck's license plate number. Police tracked down the driver, Travis Vann of Goldsboro, and identified the suspect passenger, Joshua M. Carter also of Goldsboro, as the man who police believe assaulted the juvenile.

Both suspects were arrested by Wayne County Sheriff's Office. Neither suspect was photographed or fingerprinted at the time of his arrest. Vann was arrested Friday, Carter was arrested Monday. Bond was set for Joshua Carter at $2,500.
