Several area high school football teams are getting set for a big weekend as they prepare for the state high school football championships.
One of those schools is Plymouth in Washington County where they're heading to the big game for the first time.
But those in Plymouth say this game isn't just about what happens on the field. They say it's about bringing a whole community together, still grieving from a terrible loss of young lives.
Over ten years ago, a group of Plymouth high school band members were killed along Highway 45 south during a band rehearsal lunch break.
Even the Plymouth Vikings coach says the success of the team and playing in the state championship game is helping in the healing process.
Plymouth plays North Duplin Saturday night in Raleigh.
