This horrific shooting at an Omaha, Nebraska mall where a gunman killed eight people and then himself has shoppers in eastern Carolina concerned.
Back in 2006, a shooting at the Colonial Mall in Greenville created chaos, but it's nothing in comparison to the killing rampage in Nebraska.
At the former Colonial Mall, now Greenville Mall, there are several police officers in uniform patrolling inside and out. Officers say it's rare for a gunman to open fire but mall management say they are prepared just in case.
Mall manager Wayne Singleton says, "We do have plans implemented in case something happens we do try to get our merchants to pull the door down immediately to try to keep the person outside instead of inside their store where they can take hostages."
Singleton also says they work closely with the police department for extra security and ask merchants to also be on the lookout for suspicious behavior.
