Craven Community College President Scott Ralls will be the new president of the North Carolina Board of Community Colleges.
Ralls was selected by an unanimous vote Thursday. He will be paid $275,000 annually and will start his new job on April 1.
The selection of the new leader for the 58-campus system has drawn an unusual amount of attention after the system decided to admit illegal immigrants at all of its campuses.
When Ralls was named Craven president in 2002, he was the youngest community college leader in the state.
