Authorities have charged a Pittsboro housekeeper with murder in the beating death of a resident at a nursing home near Chapel Hill.

Authorities say 41-year-old Barbara Clark also faces charges of
attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill. She is expected to make an initial court appearance Thursday

Chatham County Sheriff's spokesman Major Gary Blankenship said
Clark visited the apartment of two sisters on Wednesday, became
angry during a dispute over money and assaulted the women.

Authorities said 92-year-old Margaret Murta died late Wednesday night. Her sister, 82-year-old Mary Corcoran, is in critical condition at UNC Hospitals. Their neighbor, 77-year-old Rebecca Fisher, is in serious condition.

All three women suffered head trauma. They live at the Galloway Ridge community in the Fearrington Village development south of Chapel Hill.
