Edwards And Clinton Say President Not Doing Enough To Help Homeowners

Democratic presidential candidates John Edwards and Hillary Clinton says President Bush is not doing enough to help homeowners at risk of foreclosure.

Bush is expected to announce an agreement with the mortgage industry today to freeze certain subprime mortgage interest rates for five years. Edwards and Clinton say the conditions on the freeze will leave out many homeowners who are most vulnerable.

Edwards says the plan will still leave millions of families at risk of foreclosure. The former North Carolina senator says more help is needed for families.

Clinton says Bush will give homeowners less help than they deserve.

Edwards announced a plan yesterday that would require the freeze
on mortgage rates to last for seven years.

This is ridiculous for the government to be involved in private buisness matter this way. My husband & I bought a home several years ago with a fixed rate. Variable rates go up and we knew we wouldn't be able to afford the payments if they did rise higher. It would have been nice to have bought a larger home with a lower variable rate, but not a wise decision. Now, the government is telling a lot of those people who did chose unwisely that they don't need to downsize or rent for awhile until getting their money together, instead they are bailing them out. What does that say for those of us who sacrifice to make the right decision?

Clinton is an idiot, less help than they deserve! They should never have even gotten a mortgage to begin with.
