Pretty much everyone knows that Friday is the busiest shopping day of the year. Unfortunately, so do the criminals.
The New Bern police department is calling its holiday task force into action Friday through the end of December. The force will patrol parking lots, sometimes in undercover vehicles, sometimes from the roof of the mall.
Police say they'll do their best to protect the nice from the naughty. Police also say shoppers should always get to their car quickly and have their keys ready to go.
Another good tip is to shop with a friend. That way you can look out for each other.
