Community College Controversy

Attorney General Roy Cooper's office says it will review a new policy requiring community colleges to admit illegal immigrants.

Cooper's office says the review comes after the Community College System asked for advice on the policy Monday.

A Republican gubernatorial candidate pressed state officials Monday to defend the new policy. Johnston County Senator Fred Smith asked Cooper's office yesterday if it thought the new policy is legal.

The previous policy had given the 58 campuses discretion whether to accept undocumented applicants. That policy was changed last month by an attorney for the Community College System.

Smith and the other four leading major-party gubernatorial candidates have all come out against the policy.

How can we allow illegal immigrants to go to our colleges if it is illegal to hire them for work or even rent homes to them.

Why do we continue to cater to these illegal immagrants?what next? do we cater to child molesters, rapist, drug dealers, and others who continue to take place in illegal activties. It seems that illegal (here unlawfully) aleins have more rights than tax paying, hard working, americans.how about if i take my paycheck and send it to another country can i avoid paying taxes and keep all my money and still continue to use all of the ammenities that tax payers pay for.what about terroism?if were gonna continue to allow border jumping whats to stop them from coming in the states from mexico?not to metion the amount of drugs and gangs these illegals continue bring into our country, but i geuess its ok because there here illegally so they can do whatever they please and yet we continue to allow even make it easier on them.why should our socitey have to learn there langauge just because they refuse to learn ours.in a nut shell there here illegally.we punish everybody else why not them?

why do the American people just sit back and take what ever is dished out! Then when their child is told they cannot take a class because it is full of illegal immigrates they get mad,why don,t they stand up now.Do you think we would be treated this good in Mexico? Our taxes will go up yet AGAIN,to pay for bilingual teachers. Not one other country will take from their own to give to a foreigner so why are we expected to!Land of the free!Yes, if your not a citizen!

They should not be allowed to enter our college systems...illegal immigrants get whatever they want, and they need to go back to their own country. They go to our high schools, and we are required to have bilingual everything so that they feel at home...well then go home!!
