Big Rig Wreck Training for Beaufort County

First responders never want to see a big-rig wreck, but that's what they have to prepare for when training to protect lives in Eastern Carolina.

At a private lot turned training site in Beaufort County, crew members from five fire departments and dozens of emergency service personnel from across the eastern region, were tested at a big-rig rescue clinic Saturday. Rescue crew trainers from Asheboro headed east this weekend to give first responders and also local tow- truck operators advice on how to safely retrieve accident victims pinned by 18 wheelers.

In addition to training on how to best navigate a big-rig crash site, emergency crews also trained using metal cutting equipment such as the jaws of life.
