Piggy Problem

It was an unusual problem, a big pig problem, on a Pitt County roadway Monday.

Three hogs tumbled out of the truck carrying them on Highway 11, when the door's lock broke in front of Pitt Community College. Once the 500 pound piggies were safely on the side of the road, animal control officers fenced them in until their owner from Hanor Farms in Edgecombe County arrived.

The officer that first spotted the animals and the traffic going "hog wild" says he could hardly believe his eyes. By the way, the hogs were very well-behaved.

Animal Control officers say they checked the hogs for injuries, and they were just fine.
