Holiday shopping season is in full swing, and so is holiday shopping theft!

A suspect was captured Wednesday on surveillance video at the ABC Store # 13 on Carolina Avenue in the city of Washington. Police say he snatched a woman's purse, knocked her to the ground and escaped. According to Washington lawmen, more thefts, armed robberies and purse snatchings happen during the fall and winter holiday months, and now that identity theft is the number one crime in Beaufort County, keeping your personal information safe like social security cards and extra cash is even more crucial.

Washington police say 75% of all current investigations involve some type of identity theft.
