Food Stolen, But Not the Spirit of Giving

It's a story of one Eastern Carolina community coming together after what some say was a heartless crime.

Earlier this month, someone broke into the Salvation Army in Goldsboro, stealing three large barrels of food and several frozen turkeys, according to Captain John Leidy with the Salvation Army.

Leidy says the food was going to be used to prepare several hundred holiday food baskets for the needy this holiday season.

Since the break-in, the Goldsboro community has rallied around the Salvation Army, donating more food than what was stolen.

The United Way, Wal-Mart, and Seymour Johnson Air Force base helped the organization out.
