Preparing For A Disaster

Some of Eastern Carolina's finest have been training this week to deal with everyone's worst nightmare, a terrorist attack with a weapon-of-mass-destruction. Emergency managers from across the state are learning a new system to take command at incidents like a bombing, or even in the aftermath of a hurricane. They will have to use the National Incident Management System starting in March, or could risk not getting reimbursement after a disaster. But, trainers from Texas A&M say Eastern Carolina is more prepared for disasters that a lot of other parts of the country. Onslow County alone has sponsored more than 40 training classes for homeland security issues, since 1998.
