The upcoming bridge replacement project on Ocracoke Island is forcing the adjustment of ferry schedules this winter.

The state D.O.T. says beginning January 2nd and running through Marsh 15th, seven bridges will be replaced along Highway 12. During construction, traffic on the road will be retoured onto the beach.

The D.O.T. says because less traffic is expected from the north end of the island, schedules for the Hatteras/Ocracoke ferry will change.
