Pamlico County deputies say they caught two people red handed trying to steal a key ingredient for meth from a farm supply store.

The two were arrested early this morning at Pamco Dixie in Bayboro.

Deputies say the two used bolt cutters to gain access to a large tank of anhydrous ammonia and were attempting to bleed some of it into a smaller propane tank.

Arrested are Milton Barrow of Dudley and Nicole Thomas of Cove City. They face charges of larceny and attempted larceny of anhydrous ammonia, possession of burglary tools, possession of methamphetamines, possession of Schedule IV controlled substance, and possession of Schedule VI controlled substance,

Deputies say they confiscated a 2003 Chevy truck, a propane tank, bolt cutters, tools and miscellaneous pipe fittings.

Authorities say the arrests complete a six month investigation conducted by the Pamlico County Sheriff's Office, Wayne County Sheriff's Office and the SBI as several thefts of anhydrous ammonia had been reported in the past.
