A Rash of Accidents Near Wilson Claim Four Lives

Four people died on the roads near Wilson this weekend, according to the State Highway Patrol.

Troopers say ECU student Catherine Marie Italiano from Ballwin, Maryland lost control of her car, heading West on Highway 264 near Wilson Friday afternoon. Troopers say the accident was weather-related.

Early Sunday morning, troopers say 18-year-old Michael Lloyd Ireland, Junior of Aurora lost control of his car on Highway 264, flipped and was thrown from the vehicle. He later died at the hospital.

An Illinois man died after failing to stop at a stop sign where Highway 264 meets Highway 58. Three others were injured in that accident Sunday.

Troopers are also investigating a fatal hit and run Sunday night. A pedestrian was hit on Highway 42 near 264 just outside Wilson city limits.
