Remembering Two Young Children Who Died in Trailer Fire

A New Bern mother will soon learn whether or not she will be charged in the deaths of her two children. Both were killed in a fire early Monday morning. The Craven County District Attorney's office will wait for the conclusion of a fire investigation before filing any charges.

The bodies of six-year-old Wayne Ramsey and nine-year-old Yasmine Ramsey were pulled from the home after the fire. Authorities say they were left alone when their mother went shopping at Wal-Mart. That’s when the fire broke out, around 4 a.m. Tuesday they were remembered by their church pastor. Grief counselors were also on hand Tuesday at Brinson Memorial Elementary School to talk to classmates about the Ramseys.
