Boaters Rescued Off the Coast

A Myrtle Beach couple fishing for Striped Bass, had to be reeled in themselves after their watercraft conked out.

Eugene and Lee Thompson were stranded with friends for several hours in the shallow surf zone off South Nags Head Beach. Thompson fired off a few flares, but no other boats in the area could help out, and the boat was too near shore for a U.S. Coast Guard rescue operation by sea.

Nags Head Ocean Rescue had to answer their 911 call.
