Missing Woman Found Buried

Wayne County lawmen say they have found the body of a missing woman buried behind her home.

42-year-old Patricia Herring was reported missing to the Mount Olive Police Department on August 12, authorities say.

Wayne County lawmen say they were tipped off that a body may be buried behind the home at 2329 Selah Church Rd. in Four Oaks along the Wayne-Johnston County line. On Tuesday, crews dug up Herring's body.

Another person who lives at that house is charged with Herring's murder. 24-year-old David William Best is being held without bond in the Wayne County jail. It's not clear how the 24-year-old suspect and the 42-year-old victim knew each other, though they did share a house.

The Medical Examiner will conduct an autopsy to determine how Herring died.
