Businesses Focus on Internet for Travel

In an effort to keep the coastal tourism industry ahead of the curve, the Outer Banks Visitors Bureau hosted an information session with local businesses this week.

According to a study by International Marketing and Advertising Consultant, Dr. Peter Yesawich, new trends show that more Americans are taking family oriented trips, and use the internet more and more to bargain hunt, and explore destinations. According to the study, Americans are also more likely to be armed with knowledge of competitors rates when making reservation calls. They also book a lot closer to their vacation date, in hopes of cashing in on a perception that they'll get a much better deal on accommodations.

On average, Americans take two vacations per year, and at least four trips more than 70 miles from home.
