Fallen Officer Remembered

An emotional ceremony Tuesday honoring a fallen eastern Carolina police officer.

Rocky Mount police officer, 23 year-old Alan Silver, died last May when he crashed his patrol car responding to a robbery call. His parents, fiance and brother were among those at a tribute for him. His father was presented with his son's badge while his mother received an American flag.

Rocky Mount police chief John Manley says, "What was so noble about officer Silver was not how he died, but how he lived. Officer Silver did not lose his life, he gave it. That is what we are honoring today."

Manley also hoped the tribute would bring more healing for his family.
